RHITs Must Earn a CAHIIM Accredited Degree
93% of RHITs surveyed by AHIMA hold a degree. A CAHIIM accredited Associate Degree in Health Information Technology is required to sit for AHIMA's RHIT Certification exam. Based on the quality for which an AHIMA certification represents, most employers value and prefer candidates with AHIMA credentials. With experience, the RHIT credential holds solid potential for advancement to management positions, especially when combined with a bachelor's degree.
Note: To be eligible for AHIMA's RHIT Certification exam, candidates must have earned an associate degree in health information management or technology in a CAHIIM accredited program.
