Medical Assisting - Associate of Science
Southwest Florida College's Medical Assisting program is designed to expose students to both the administrative and clinical aspects of the modern healthcare environment. Southwest Florida College places emphasis on medical theory and terminology as well as on teaching the practices and procedures associated with the operation of a healthcare facility. Students will also learn in clinical laboratory classes (externships), where they can apply knowledge previously studied and further their training in real-world scenarios. When students successfully complete the program, they can pursue entry-level employment as a medical assistant with private physicians, health clinics, hospitals and nursing homes.

Southwest Florida College features an Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting that can be completed within two years of study. This degree will focus on fundamental medical courses, such as anatomy and physiology, as well as clinical coursework like clinical procedures and pharmacology. Our Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting is available at both our Ft. Myers and Tampa campus locations for your convenience.

Medical Billing and Coding - Diploma
Southwest Florida College's Medical Billing and Coding program is designed to provide you with the training necessary to prepare you for a position as a medical records coder or employment in medical insurance billing departments within hospitals, medical facilities, private insurance billing firms and other medical support service organizations.

Southwest Florida College features a Diploma in Medical Billing and Coding that can be completed in less than two years of study.
